Our Project
Egg-Drop and Astronaut Docking Activity
The main activity has students create a device to protect a raw egg from cracking after it is dropped from a specified height. The students will be given a limited amount of time and supplies. Before this activity, there will be an icebreaker challenge called the "astronaut docking challenge." Students will work together to move a PVC ring with a ball balanced on top (the astronauts) to dock with a larger ring (the ISS) placed on the ground.
Purpose
Introduce engineering with a hands-on activity and encourage students that anyone can pursue engineering despite previous knowledge or skills.
